a brief look at some precedents for action research from agent francis.

  1. in certain places - preston market mystery project, 2006
  2. Freee - various projects around manchester as part of bbc's power of art series - a dissenting tour of manchester's public artworks
  3. the institute for the art and practice of dissent at home - liverpool's family collective questioning the use of the family within art.
  4. conway and young - documented 99 tours of leeds by members of the public and then invited all 99 back to join them on the 100th tour.
  5. miranda july - 11 heavy things - not action research in itself but does employ some similar methodologies.
  6. anna francis - window 204 - cross city comparison questioning the public about attitudes togalleries. note - all agents currently engrossed in the masterclass - some scribbling in their agent notebooks - others listening intently and a small disagreement about the lack of tour guides in stoke-on-trent, and a near calamity as agent francis nearly chokes on an errant piece of her agent moustache. back to the masterclass
  7. delicate situations - web based photographic interventions
  8. margaret barren - photographing site specific paintings in the community environment
  9. julia bonn
